“Dissection” is the result of the necessary search for a familiarity with my surroundings, which led me to make these portraits to make these portraits where I tried to analyse the gestures, the looks of the subjects and to recognise myself in them. The complex hours of study allowed me to find the humanity present in each one of them and to that warmth allowed me to delve into the nuances of the portrait subject.
«Disección» surge de la búsqueda necesaria de una familiaridad con mi entorno, que me empujó a la realización de estos retratos donde pretendía analizar los gestos, miradas de los sujetos y reconocerme en ellos. Las complejas horas de estudio me permitían encontrar la humanidad presente en cada uno de ellos y esa calidez me proporcionaba profundizar en los matices del retratado.
The title “Dissection” refers precisely to this: I wanted to get to know every detail and to capture it. I intend to show these people – all of them special to me – in their unique and vast complexity, and I participate in it by recognising in them, during the hours we share, something of myself. El título «Disección» hace referencia precisamente a esto: quise conocer cada detalle y plasmarlo. Pretendo mostrar a estas personas – todas especiales para mí– en su única y vasta complejidad, siendo yo partícipe de ella al reconocer en ellos, durante las horas que compartimos, algo de mí. Son momentos silenciosos de pesadumbre y también quizá de esperanza, cargadas de tensión psicológica y misterio.
The project starts from a purely selfish motivation: in the midst of depression, I needed the company and presence of others. company and presence of a third party. Like the flickering light of the lighthouse, the time-sharing meant an emotional waterline, a psychological search and reconciliation with myself.
El proyecto parte de una motivación puramente egoísta: en plena depresión, necesitaba la compañía y presencia de terceros. Como la luz intermitente de los faros, el tiempo compartido significó una línea de flotación emocional, una búsqueda psicológica y la reconciliación conmigo misma.
